Happy New Year! Time is barreling forward yet again, I can’t fucking believe it. I actually love linear time just as much as I love eternal formless spiral time.

Spiral time reminds us of how small we are within the vast machine of life. It shows us that our personal successes and failures are not as grandiose as they may feel. This machine rambles on with or without us! Spiral time shakes us awake from our navel gazing. It is humbling to remember that we are animals having experiences in an environment…all our eccentricities, specific identities, ruminative narratives and earthly woes WILL melt away when we make a big return to the spiral.

Linear time represents the limits of our corporeal forms and the restraints of gravity we endure in life. It is the treacherous path that stretches before & behind us, measured by consistent plotting steps. Linear time shows us that life is long and actions have consequences. Through linear time we cultivate our personal mythology and reckon with the cards we were dealt, for better or worse. Profound progress can be made, but there is no such thing as a get rich quick scheme or even a single moment of spiritual awakening. Everything builds slowly upon the forward motion of time and there is no escaping this condition.

Whatever time reality you prefer, we are generally juggling both simultaneously, so I hope they play nice for you this year!

One of my favorite New Years activities is to orient myself to the passage of time through numerology, tarot, and astrology. Esoteric languages I find to be highly accurate conductors for the mysterious invisible information that can be difficult to name in a culture that suffers from a lack of nuance and depth.

I decided to write some quick numerology horoscopes based on our personal years for 2026. My disclaimer is that I have never written a horoscope in my entire life. Please enjoy, if you wish, if you dare.

If you have no clue what numerology is here is the quick run down:

NUMEROLOGY

Numerology is an ancient divinatory practice that spans many centuries and cultures. There are several different systems and schools of thought under the umbrella of numerology and countless lenses to understand and work within those systems.

I tend to be most influenced by Pythagorean numerological principals.

My working definition of numerology:

The study of numbers through the lens of archetypal meanings and occult interpretation, grounded in the natural law and order of the universe.

To make matters even more fun, you can weave tarot into numerology, matching numbers with their visual archetypal counterparts to really get deep into the vibe.

In numerology, the universal year number is a way to understand the overarching themes that will present during that time frame. To find the universal year number you simply add up the sum of all the digits of the year in question. If the resulting number is a double digit, reduce it by adding both digits until it is a single digit.

In 2024 I wrote about our universal 8 year (Strength) right here! Last year I wrote about our universal 9 (Hermit) Year right here. As we arrive in 2026 we enter a 1 year (Magician/Wheel of Fortune.) I hope to write more about our universal 1 year soon…

I am frankly terrified and excited for what this new collective cycle may reveal for us. For now I’m sticking to these personal year horoscopes, which will help reflect where you personally fall within your 9-year numerological cycle.

In numerology the personal year is a way to understand the themes that will present specifically for you during the year. The overarching influence of the universal year can be layered with the energetics of your personal year number to understand the bigger picture of the energy of the year both collectively and on an individual level.

To find your personal year number add the month and date of your birthday to the universal year number. In this case the universal number of 2026 is 10.

Personal Year Number =

Birth Month + Birth Day + Current Year (or just use 10 here)

→ reduce the total to a single digit

Now let’s see where you fall! It is also quite interesting to reflect on past years to see if your experiences align with the numerological cycle. Check whats coming next year. Calculate your friends year number and send it to them.

The horoscopes below also read like a circular creation story…so you can go through it that way too. Just make sure to find yourself in the story.

One last note: Within numerology there is a discrepancy as to when the personal year begins. Some believe it begins with the calendar year, AKA right about now. Some believe it begins with your birthday. I actually tend to understand it to begin with your birthday, but who am I to talk because my birthday is right after the new year, so it’s difficult to differentiate for me. Feel it out for yourself!

PERSONAL YEAR NUMEROLOGY HOROSCOPES

1 Year

Something is born that is utterly distinct. The force of creation is pulsing through its body…It is way too peculiar.

It is you! Stand up straight. Speak clearly. Stop checking behind you. You are beyond ready to live in this world. You constructed yourself as this creature in your last 9 year cycle. There is lots of work to be done. Luckily, you are a powerhouse. Go hard!

So much was processed and composted in your 9 year. Now it’s time to leave the realms of reflection and solitude. Learn about your renewed self through aligned action. Do the work you feel like doing, and do it with vigor. This is not a time to hold back or procrastinate. Do not dance around the truth. Be forthcoming and bold. Notice when you are betraying your true self and decide if you want to continue.

During this time, you possess a distinct authority over your own experience. Rely on your hard earned energy and strength to carry you forward. Show yourself to others. You are supported in being your authentic self. The power is truly vibrating in the palms of your two hands.

2 Year

The sensitivity is cranked up. Everything is a little too HD. ESP on blast…like someone who knows too much!

For better or worse, perceptions are at a peak for you this year. At first this is quite uncomfortable. You may miss the simple driving force from your 1 year, but that has long left the building. You are sensitive and somewhat vulnerable during this time. As the bluntness of the 1 year retreats, you notice you may feel quite…soft and silent.

Self protection is very important during this time to do the good work of the 2. When you are safe, you can melt into your heightened perceptions. You are everything and everyone. Relational wisdom is your superpower. Offer your services to your trusted people through deep listening, mediation, slow intimacy or soft negotiation. Your driving passions are still alive from your 1 year…but now you hold them close to your chest. They are special and private.

Everything moves slowly but with high detail. Your luck lies in developing your relational skills with those who pass your test of discernment. Do not ignore your gut feelings about others. If you feel safe enough to remain open during this time, a special intimate relationship may emerge in your life.

3 Year

A creature with a light heart and a quick tongue. Wings that can fly anywhere. A bounce in the step and a magnetic pull.

You are expansive right now. People want to be around you, and you want to be around people. Building upon the deep connection and vulnerability experienced in your 2 year, now you are feeling robust and ready. You have a talent for weaving networks of people into communities. Make connections in your local spots as well as when you travel far away.

Inspiration, communication, and expression is what you are after. You are articulate and charming during this time. You are skilled in communicating and materializing your ideas. This easy vibration is well earned after the heavy, cautious energy of your 2 year. Do what feels right for your brain and your heart. Remember to keep at least 1 foot on the ground, though. Gravity has less pull on you right now, which is quite enjoyable, but you don’t want to float away. Put some rocks in your pockets to remind yourself of limitations and practicality.

Your imagination is lightning. All your ideas are connected by an electric current. It may be difficult to focus or concentrate at this time. It is not necessarily a good year to pursue a highly laborious undertaking. Be sure to write down all your interconnected ideations, because next year you are actually ready to work hard.

4 Year

A sturdy simple structure is erected. Go inside. Survival is important.

A desire for the basics is present. What makes you feel like a true animal? Food, shelter, running, walking, sex, crying, sleeping, preparing. Make plans and improvements to these systems. This is a year of slow hard work. Much can be accomplished, but perseverance is necessary. The lighthearted vibe of the 3 year has dissipated, replaced by an air of practicality, realism, and slow plotting work ethic. You crave an unshakable foundation, so build it.

You are supported in practically and meaningfully improving your home or living situation. Notice what makes you feel completely safe, and what makes you feel fearful and insecure (in a root chakra type of way.)

Implement routines that are simple yet profound. Get your heart rate up, eat foods that agree with you, organize your financial affairs, or focus in on a goal that requires great concentration and stamina. You have the intuition to know what you need, at the base of your spine. Creating structural integrity is of the utmost importance. Let yourself indulge in security, routine and disciplined work ethic.

5 Year

A sharp turn that spells freedom. There is nothing wrong with being potent.

Anything hindering your freedom will start to feel absolutely unacceptable at this time. If you are truly sovereign, may you experience pure self determination. This year teeters on the line of excitement and anxiety, depending on your nature and your circumstances.

Fast, unexpected changes blow up your plans and preparations. Whether these changes feel dynamic, or unbelievably cruel, they are setting you up for a longer trajectory that is beyond your understanding. Ride this energy to the best of your ability. Be sure to release your tension rather than compress it.

If you are able to roll with the punches, some beautiful opportunities for adventure and spiritual surrender may find you. You are sick of your old ways and ready to try new things, even if they are not guaranteed to succeed. This energy is sharp and destabilizing compared to your 4 year, so draw on the solidity you cultivated at that time.

You may come off very intensely to others during this time. There is nothing wrong with being potent, especially when your freedom is at stake. You have the permission to get out from under whatever is weighing you down as best you can. Who even cares what anyone else thinks about your pursuit of freedom.

6 Year

A stabilized expansion occurs beyond the self and into the other. Wisdom encircles.

You are a peaceful force after traversing that 5 year. Surviving the unexpected has a way of filling your heart with love and strength. You turned chaos into self fortification. The structure of the 4 and the mayhem of the 5 combines into something even more powerful… 6! Wisdom encircles you.

This year it’s true, with great power comes great responsibility. People will need you at this time. You are calm but your hands are full. Relationships will buckle and strengthen. People you love will ask you to step up. That is not always easy even if you are ready to. Make sure you give yourself a release valve. Art and writing are good for you.

Depending on your experience of job and labor, this is a time of professional advancement and getting paid for the true value of your work, OR coming to a sober understanding of how exploited you truly are. Advocate for yourself and know when you hit a limit. You are strong and loving in your output at this time and people notice. The role you play within your community is illuminated.

7 Year

Listen with great care. Powerful reflections from the innermost place are screaming!

Something undeniable bubbles up from within. It is very overwhelming and difficult to conceal. You want to rush to a private space to sort it out and take a better look. Let yourself have this time in whatever capacity is possible this year.

Reflect and listen closely. You are hungry for some kind of intricate language, one that speaks to a part of you that is lost or buried. Art, tarot, science, herbalism, music, a 2nd language, reading, dog training, writing, cooking, whatever it might be. You have a distinct intuition to know what language you need right now. Embrace this hunger for the sake of personal evolution. Tools of self reflection and philosophical expansion are needed.

This time is like winter. Stay inside. Strange occurrences may give you much to contemplate. It is a gift of a year to work on yourself and develop a spiritual core. Understand the consequences of listening to intuition vs. ignoring intuition. Understand which you prefer. The material realms are not your place at this time. Stay with yourself in the dark. Your inner most center is being renovated and reinforced this year. You are fleshing out the meaning of your existence, quietly and slowly. DON’T FIGHT IT.

8 Year

A figure 8 is flowing. The river is lazy, clogged with debris. Eject the obstacles, and the current becomes powerful.

You know what you want. You may be hesitant, but I think you know! This year, your insides and your outsides are beginning to align in symmetry. The wind is at your back during the work of the 8. You have a natural inner strength gleaned from the spiritual core you built in your 7 year. The material world begins to mirror back what you have created inside.

Proceed with caution and wear a hard hat, though. If there are obstacles in the way of your gushing river of energetic alignment, they will be promptly expelled. Better to drag them away yourself if possible. For this reason it can be a harrowing time of loss for some. Try to glimpse what is gained when you create empty space. The energy will always flow back in.

This year, you are a person of the world. Integrate the self reflection of the 7 year by bringing your full realized self into the light of day. Take stock of your material possessions, bank account, and earthly goals. This is a time to build a nice strong bridge from your inner values to your outer actions. Be honest about who you really are and what you really crave in this life. Take charge of creating alignment in your experience. It can be a heavy job. Whatever you are still sorting out by the end of this year will become mandatory homework for your 9 year. You are fortified with the strength to be honest.

9 Year

Pain stirs in the petri dish. A body emerges from grief, joy, and pure experience. A completion!

This is the end chapter of your 9 year cycle. Electric wisdom and heavy grief sit in the air. At the end of this year lies a pitch black hole speckled with stars. Is it a portal? or a mole hole? Scary. Exciting! You know this hole will take you somewhere very far away from the familiar, and it is a one way street.

Throughout this year, a new self is being constructed. They will be the player for the next 9 year cycle. Pay attention. Be sure to omit any and all ingredients that you prefer to leave behind.

Think of yourself in 2018. That was the beginning of this cycle that is now coming to an end. Realize all that has happened. Look through journals, planners, and pictures you have from the last 9 years. Reflect on the memories that bring you peace, and the memories that make you squirm with discomfort. If there is anything you can do to bring you or others peace and closure, do it now.

Study this person you are. Try to understand them completely. What is their mythology? What parts must die? What parts must live? Cry so many tears for them. Laugh at their strange behaviors. Be VERY honest. Write lists that will help you get to the new you. Remove anything that is in the way. Before you jump in that hole, get right with yourself. Complete self intimacy is recommended.
